Meteorologist/Reporter:

ABC FOX Montana, a Cowles Media broadcast group based in Great Falls, Montana is looking for an experienced meteorologist to spearhead our weather effort on-air and on-line. A degree in meteorology, 2 to 5 years as a broadcast meteorologist, and experience with Weather Central is preferred.  Reciting numbers from the National Weather Service isn’t the plan!

If your goal is producing the very best weathercast in the market, you can tell a compelling weather story every day using the latest weather tools and information, and you take pride in your accuracy, you’re exactly who we’re looking for. The Chief Meteorologist delivers weather forecasts for our primary evening newscasts covering central Montana.

We want someone who is not only comfortable with the challenge of forecasting widely varied Montana weather, but can also handle reporting duties (this will include both shooting and editing as needed). Community involvement is also important to us The successful candidate will also know how to deliver the latest forecasts to our other media platforms. You must be a motivated, self-starter who relates well to co-workers and our viewers. 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

  • Undergraduate Degree in Meteorology and 2-5 years as Broadcast Meteorologist preferred
  • Writing skills and PC competent
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. equipment
  • Must be a deadline-oriented team player

This position will be based in our Helena location.  It isn’t just telling a compelling story, but getting out into the community and finding the best characters to tell help tell it. This is a unique opportunity to cover politics in action in the state capital.  The 2019 Montana Legislative Session is one to watch! The successful candidate will also know how to deliver the latest news to our other online and social media platforms. Community involvement is also important to us.

  • Be nimble enough to report on multiple stories, when necessary, on a given day, on multiple platforms.

Executive Producer

KFBB-TV, the ABC/FOX affiliate in Central Montana, is seeking an Executive Producer to join the region’s most dynamic news team. “Dynamic:” That’s a good word. Because that’s exactly what qualified candidates must be.

We have producers who can time newscasts. We need someone who can add “sizzle.” We need someone who understands how to interact with the viewer in relevant ways. Daily news reporting responsibilities will also be a part of this position.
