POLSON, Mont. (AP) — A Montana woman charged in connection with the death of another woman will not receive jail time if she obeys the terms of a plea agreement.
The Missoulian reports Julia Vaile, of Missoula, will remain free as long as she doesn't break any laws and pays her legal fees over the next six months.
If she violates the terms, Vaile could receive a six-month sentence for careless driving under the agreement in the case of the death of Cassandra Harris.
Lake County Attorney Steve Eschenbacher on Wednesday said there was no evidence that Vaile knew that Joseph Parizeau, Jr. threw Harris out of a pickup truck, or that Harris had been injured.
Vaile was driving last summer when Parizeau threw Harris out of a truck. Harris later died.
