Community Blanket Drive underway at Mattress King

The Community Blanket Drive at Mattress King is underway for the Magic City. The business is accepting new or gently-used blankets for those in need this season.

KULR-8 spoke to salesman, Eddy Welch, who explained the blanket drive is about meeting a need in the community. He said when the weather gets cold, many don't have clothing or items to keep them warm. Mattress King wants to be a conduit for Billings citizens to serve those in need of warmth, Welch said.

He explained how this drive impacts the community.

"It reminds people of a giving mindset," Welch said. "A lot of times, during Christmas, we kind of think about what we can get and we forget to give. So I think it impacts the community by influencing them to remember to 'Hey, yeah. We should give. There are people less fortunate. There are people that I can serve that I can make a difference. Even with just something as simple as a blanket.' "

The Community Blanket Drive will go on until the 14th of December. If you'd like to donate a blanket, you can visit Mattress King on 20th Street and King Avenue or on 17th Street and Grand Avenue during business hours.

Last year, Mattress King was able to collect 257 blankets. This year's goal is to collect 300.
