Great Falls Public Schools is in need of substitute teachers due to a shortage.
Last school year, GFPS had 939 absences and out of those, only 419 shifts were filled.Human Resources Director, Kerry Dattilo, says they are looking to find around 30-50 substitute teachers. This includes those who are qualified to work with students with special needs.
Right now the current staff members have been working extra hard to fill vacancies.
"We also have several employees who work for us that fill more than one position," Kerry Dattilo said. "So you might have a crossing guard who also works in food service, we have teacher's aides who also fill in for substitute teachers."
Great Falls Public Schools is having a job fair to fill the vacancies. It is taking place on November 27th and 29th at the Great Falls Job Service. The job fair will start at 8:00 a.m. and last until 1:00 p.m. In addition to hiring substitute teachers, they are also hiring for food service, teacher aide, and crossing guard positions.
