Four remain missing after car crashes into Idaho river

KALISPELL - One man died and another was rescued after a boat capsized on the Flathead River on Tuesday.

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office says two people were in a small aluminum boat on the river north of the Pressentine Bar fishing access. The boat capsized around noon.

Several agencies responded, including Two Bear Air. One man swam to shore safely, but the other was pulled from the water unresponsive.

Michael Allen, age 79, of Columbia Falls, is identified as the man who died.

The other man was treated for hypothermia but was otherwise uninjured.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation, Sheriff Chuck Curry says.

Responders include the Sheriff’s office, Flathead Search and Rescue, Evergreen Fire, Two Bear Air Rescue and ALERT.
