Community donates dresses to help students attend school dances

HELENA – The Niceness is Priceless Clubs at Helena and Capital High School are accepting gently worn prom dresses and suits for students to shop and borrow for school dances.

This is the third year they have been collecting dresses and it is supported solely by donations from the community. Christina Sieminski, one of the leaders of the Niceness is Priceless Club at Capital High, says seeing the reaction on students faces when they see how nice the dresses are is unforgettable.

“I think sometimes people think they're going to come in and find used or worn dresses that aren't as nice, and their faces really light up when they see the great selection that the community has donated,” Sieminski says.

They have collected over 300 dresses throughout the three years of the program and will be collecting them until the end of March. They let students check out dresses with no strings attached, so they aren’t required to sign a list or return them if they don’t want too. Students outside of the Helena School District have also benefitted from these dentations as well.

If you are interested in donating an item, you can bring it to Helena or Capital High Schools main office between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sieminski says they are in need of shoes and accessories as well as male suits so if you have some laying around make sure to bring them down.
