GREAT FALLS – West Elementary briefly went into ‘Shelter In Place’ status Wednesday afternoon after a resident nearby called asking to get rid of “several explosive components,” according to a release.

Members the Great Falls Police Department who responded to the scene say the items were inert and that the area is safe.

One officer is on site, and the Montana Air National Guard will soon arrive to take the items into custody before getting rid of them properly.
