U.S. Marine Corps celebrates 240th birthday

The United States Marine Corps celebrated its 240th birthday Tuesday.

On November 10th, 1775, the Continental Congress approved a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines to defend the country by air and sea during the American Revolution. Since then, the date has been recognized annually by the Marine Corp.

Wednesday, the nation will celebrate Veterans Day, a day to recognize the contributions of all military members.
