MISSOULA -

U.S. Senator Jon Tester campaigned alongside U.S. Congressional candidate Kathleen Williams and supreme court clerk candidate Rex Renk on Monday morning at the University of Montana.

Senator Tester highlighted issues popular among college students. He said the issues important to millennials, such as college affordability and public education, are issues people need to talk about because young people are the future.

"I would not be running for this position if it wasn't for people your age," Tester said to an excited crowd of students. it's important that you vote, millennials are important as to how we move forward in this country, critically important."

Senator Tester added voting Williams for U.S. congress and Rex Renk for supreme court clerk will help protect values important to Montanans such as investing in public education and access to public lands.

"It's a very important election. I don't need to tell you guys that, it's fact. We've got great people, three of them here today that will stand up, fight and hold people accountable," Tester said.

One day before the voting polls close, Senator Tester said he's feeling "good" about the Senate election against Republican candidate Matt Rosendale.

Senator Tester commented briefly on President Donald Trump's visit to Bozeman on Saturday and Vice President Mike Pence's visit to Kalispell on Monday.

"They're always welcome, especially the president, to come and take a look at the challenges we have here in Montana. The rural challenges and rural nature of our state. I don't know if he took advantage of that, but hopefully he will come back and not just do political rallies but actually see what's going on in the state. We have challenges," Tester said.

Senator Tester said he's spending the eve of the election night at his farm in Big Sandy with his family.
