KALISPELL - The Flathead County Sheriff is warning people to avoid a sketchy "modeling opportunity."

The sheriff's office says they've received a few calls regarding modeling gigs advertised on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat:

They usually start by saying they are looking for models for brand name items or commercials ; they may even be trying to "grow a data base".

Soon after you think you've booked "a gig", they may respond with "those commercials have been cast, and the music videos are on hold, but there’s still an opportunity for you to appear in some movies…if you’re interested.” Little by little, it came out that these films are of a pornographic nature.

THEY will promise you big and fast money.
THEY will tell you you're talented.
THEY will tell you that you're pretty.
THEY will feed on insecurities.
THEY will then threaten you if you don't go through with it.

The sheriff's office advises that legitimate ad and modeling agencies are very selective and shouldn't ask you to pay for fees or classes - and remember the adage that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The sheriff didn't say if they've made any arrests or identified any suspects in Montana related to the scams.
