Plans for Missoula Pride event underway

Posted: Updated:

Plans are in motion for Missoula’s first city-specific Pride event, and organizers hope to start an annual tradition in the community by 2019. Missoula residents are excited at the possibility of having a yearly celebration in the city.

Ray Davis is one of those residents. He moved to Missoula 12 years ago for college. He loves Pride events, but hasn’t had the chance to go to many in Missoula. He said he’s only seen a Pride event in Missoula once since he moved to the area, and that a yearly Pride event would be a perfect fit for the community.

“Missoula’s strength in LGBT community members and the amount of people that we have here who support the LGBT community…the opportunity there is for us to have an incredible celebration every single year,” Davis said. “I’m personally really excited about that.”

Missoula Pride 2019 is still in the early planning stages. There will be a meeting to discuss the details of the event at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 3 at the Western Montana Community Center.

The Big Sky Pride organization hosts a Pride parade and rally in a different city in Montana each year. Last year's Big Sky Pride was in Helena.
