Montana Department of Transportation speaks out on construction worker who was hit and killed

BILLINGS, Mont. -

The Montana  Department of Transportation mourns the loss of one of their own.

We're learning more about a construction worker who has been hit and killed in Billings. That man has been identified as 52-year-old Jeff Dyekman.
According to MDOT's Facebook page, Dyekman was employed with the company for the last 28 years.

Jeffrey Dyekman died from his injuries after being hit by a Big Sky Steel flatbed truck Wednesday as he worked along an Interstate-90 off-ramp. The 28-year-old male driver who was behind the wheel of the flatbed truck was treated for non life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital.

In a statement, the Montana Department of Transportation said Dyekman was a project manager for the Billings District. He was killed on Wednesday.
The statement goes on to say, in part "Anyone who knew Jeff knew of his larger than life personality- you always knew when he was in the room. He was always energized at work, and his energy was contagious."

The statement adds the employees' hearts and thoughts go out to his family.
