Missoula Sheriff confirms Trump planning visit to Missoula

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - The Missoula County Sheriff's Office confirmed that they're meeting with Secret Service agents to plan security for a potential presidential visit.

Cris Jensen, director of Missoula International Airport, says the facility is equipped to accept Air Force One, the presidential aircraft. He says he's working on setting up a meeting with the Secret Service for Friday, but nothing is confirmed. Jensen said he learned of the visit from the morning's news reports.

It would be President Donald Trump's third visit to the Treasure State.

KGVO reported this morning that Trump is planning a visit to Missoula for Oct. 18, and that his son Eric Trump said that his family has an appreciation for Montana.

From the sheriff's office release:

Members of our office have been invited to a meeting by the US Secret Service addressing security measures in the event of a potential Presidential visit to Missoula, MT.

Any questions related to security measures should be referred to US Secret Service Special Agent in Charge, Robert Kierstad at (206)375-5847. Any questions related to the President’s schedule should be referred to the White House press office at (202)456-9570.

This is all the information we have at this time.
