MISSOULA - A 24-year-old man is charged with repeatedly attacking his girlfriend and forcing her to sign a "contract" allowing him to hit her.

Rexford Robinson is a University of Montana student. A friend reported him to campus police, saying that Robinson had hit and threatened his girlfriend several times.

Court documents say that on separate occasions, Robinson punched her, hit her with a leather belt and held a gun to her face, saying "I own you now." Robinson allegedly forced the victim to sign a "contract" allowing him to hit her.

Robinson is also accused of cutting the victim's cheek with a knife, and showed up at her residence to threaten her after campus police left.

The victim told police about the threats, and he was arrested. Officers executed a search warrant of Robinson's dorm room and found a black knife and "contract" described by the victim.

Robinson is charged with a misdemeanor count of partner-family member assault, a felony count of partner-family member assault, and one count of tampering with a witness.

He's in Missoula County jail on a bond of $50,000.
