Homecoming security increased in Libby after school threat

Posted: Updated:

LIBBY - Police say they're continuing to provide extra security this week after finding a written threat to the school.

Libby Chief of Police Scott Kessel says on Oct. 4, school officials reported finding a threat of violence written on a wall in a boys' bathroom.

Police monitored Friday's homecoming game and Saturday's dance, and are continuing to patrol the school this week.

They say investigators haven't found any danger to the community, and they believe the threat was the work of a "small group of students to disrupt the school."

Police say they'll investigate until charges are brought against participants. The FBI and Montana Division of Criminal Investigation are providing resources.
