Spectrum services down impacting local businesses

Posted: Updated:

GREAT FALLS- If you’re a customer of Spectrum, services have finally been restored, but local business owners are still feeling the repercussions.

"When we first found out the internet wasn't working, our dispatchers have a backup tablet that runs off of Verizon Network so we were able to get that up and going and so they could at least see the logistics of where our cabs were,” said Ryan Perrin, Owner of BlackedOut 406 TAXI & LIMOUSINE.

For the last two days, thousands of Spectrum customers have been without internet or cable. Among those thousands are businesses like all six of Subway's restaurants in Greats Falls and BlackedOut 406 TAXI & LIMOUSINE.

"Some shops this morning come back on and then they're back down again,” said Louis Kingscott, Subway Manager at 1900 4th St NE.

This left customers frustrated and in return, sales were decreasing.

"We've actually got some Facebook messages off of our taxi page people asking if we are still open, and that they weren't able to get through on the phones. And it's a patience, just a patience thing because we're going from three phone lines down to one phone line,” said Perrin.

Either their credit card machine wasn't working.

"People walking out because they only carry card not cash,” said Kingscott.

Or calls were cutting in and out resulting in missing information.

"The dispatchers just used one of our Verizon cell phones that we had, that are usually in the cabs and then were able to pull everyone's numbers off of caller ID, and start calling people back,” said Perrin.

As of news time, services are up and running in the Electric City but BlackedOut Taxi said just in case this happens again they have an action plan.
