Ryan Jones is asking the public to help him find his service dog. Jones says Masik, a dark-brown chow chow, was stolen from his truck on Sunday.
Jones says he deals with Post Traumatic Stress disorder after serving overseas for the Marines. Masik helps comfort to Jones in public settings.
"He really is special to me and he really helps me if anything else. I just want him to come back home," Jones said.
Jones and his wife deliver recreational vehicles all over the U.S. and take Masik with them everywhere. Delgado says they were driving through Western Montana when they stopped in the Wye area in Missoula to shower and do laundry around 9 p.m. on Sunday.
The couple parked across the street from a popular bar and left the car unlocked, the window cracked and a light on. When the couple came back three hours later, they say the front left door was open. They say some cash - and Masik - were missing.
"We usually lock the truck but we lost the key a day or two prior. We weren't able to lock the truck so we left the lights on the truck, hoping that it would look like someone was in the truck since our windows are tinted," Delgado said.
The Missoula Sheriffs department is still investigating the incident. Sheriffs deputies say they have no leads at the moment.
According to Delgado, there was poor surveillance in the area.
The couple is asking for the public help in finding Masik. They're worried the separation will harm Masik.
"He's attached to Ryan. He does not like to be away from Ryan. He will not eat and he will go into depression. So whoever has him, they need to understand that they're hurting Masik by keeping him away," Delgado said.
