Bozeman beats the heat at Music on Main

It's a toasty 95 degrees in downtown Bozeman. But that didn't keep Main St. from filling up for the second-to-last Music on Main summer concert series of 2018.

Attendees looking for hydration weren't at a loss for options. But one stand, the Water Bottle Fill Station, offers that hydration free of charge.

The mobile station has made appearances throughout the summer at Music on Main, but they looked busier than ever this Thursday evening.

Nicole Reed is the Water Conservation Technician for the City of Bozeman, and she was one of the staff members attending the station on Thursday.

“It’s a really good service that the city provides in conjunction with public works and our water conservation program in order to encourage them to bring out their own water bottles," Reed says.

People looking to satisfy their sweet tooth had a host of vendors and products to choose from, including gourmet popsicles, beer, and iconic Montana huckleberry smoothies. Before the concert even began, a line was forming at Huckin.

What Huckin employee Rachael Reed said should come as no surprise: smoothies and lemonade are flying out the little van's window, while the espresso and hot drinks go untouched inside.

According to Music on Main attendee Gary Shapiro, you only need a few things to stay cool in the heat: “As long as there’s shade and ice cream, we’re good.”

And don’t forget a healthy dose of perspective. Jesse Ropelato, another attendee, explains he’s not concerned about the warm weather because he knows what’s to come.

“Yeah, I think in the summer, you take the warm temperatures when you can get them,” Ropelato says, “because the winter’s are so long, you know? So, it’s the good and the bad. I’d rather it be mid-90s then 30-below.”

Music on Main has one more week before the end of summer, but luckily, things look to be a little cooler next Thursday night.

Music on Main is every Thursday night 6:30-9:30 PM on Main St. in the summer.
