The language of software and why you need to learn it

MISSOULA -

The language of software may be complicated but some tech experts say it might also be the key to success in your career sooner than you think.

Coding is the underlying principle of everything in technology. The internet, apps on your phone and looking at pictures on Google is all built on coding.

Some students in Missoula recognize this and want to learn as much as they can to stick out in the job pool or make a career change.

Montana Code School offers an intensive 12-week program to teach anyone the ins and outs of code. Some students were building apps, learning how to make a robot move and creating a software to translate video game characters language.

“There is no one I can think of in any profession that this is not applicable for,” said Edward Weymouth, the instructor at Montana Code School. “Everyone should learn how to interact with it on some level.”

Understanding this, Weymouth said, is going to be key for almost any job in the next five to 10 years.

“Every company has a website, uses a website, updates a website or has an app.”

The students are hosting an open house August 9 at 5 p.m. at Gecko Designs in Missoula to show off what they have learned in the hopes of attracting employers in the area.
