Out of the many parks throughout the city of Great Falls, Gibson Park stands out for a pretty unique reason. It’s flower garden.
And it’s all thanks to one gardener.
Samantha Clark, the lone gardener, shows her green thumb off every day by tending to the flowers throughout the garden.
Her story started a couple of years ago.
With over 10 years of work experience in landscaping, Samantha decided she wanted to change things up a little bit.
However, becoming a gardener was never her original plan.
"Initially, it was a tree crew interview and they mentioned this flower garden and they were going to be needing somebody; so I said keep me in mind for that, I’d really enjoy that," said Samantha.
With this being her second summer working as the Gibson park Gardner, Samantha says the best part of her job is simply just waking up to go to it.
"Typical day for me would be... get down here in the morning, set my sprinklers, try and get a bunch of stuff watered before it gets too hot; and as I'm watering, walking around weeding, deadheading, making sure there isn’t any damage to anything."
With a season running from May to the beginning of October,Samantha spends her off months studying flowers and gardening tips to prepare for the season to come.
While she suggests any gardner does the same, she’s always willing to lend a helping hand.
"If anybody has any questions about anything, feel free to ask and I’ll be able to help you as much as I can."
If you haven't yet, consider stopping by the Gibson Park flower garden!
Samantha says she always enjoys talking with people who admire flowers as much as she does.
