Montana State's starting quarterback of the past two season will miss the 2018 season to focus on academics, according to Montana State's head football coach.
Junior quarterback Chris Murray, who led the Bobcats to a 2017 Brawl of the Wild win against University of Montana, will not play in 2018, according to a press release from Montana State University Athletics.
“Chris is obviously an important part of this team,” said head coach Jeff Choate in the press release, “but everyone that enters this program and this University knows that academics are the top priority. This will be a year for Chris to get his priorities in order and raise his academic work to the standard that MSU and this football program demand.”
With Murray out for the season, competition for the starting quarterback position will heat up when team practices start on August 3.
