Child and Family Services has new administrator, deputy

Posted: Updated:

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Montana's Division of Child and Family Services has two new leaders as the agency deals with nearly 4,000 children in foster care.

Health department director Sheila Hogan said Tuesday that central regional administrator Marti Vining is the new division administrator while western regional administrator Nikki Grossberg has been named to the deputy's position.

Hogan cited their leadership and experience in working with children and families, including time as caseworkers. Both have been regional administrators for the past seven years.

Vining takes over for Maurita Johnston, who resigned in March after 16 months on the job.

In the coming weeks, the agency will have addiction recovery teams to work with caseworkers in identifying and coordinating treatment for family members with substance abuse issues. Officials have said drug use is a major reason for the record number of children in foster care.
