Latest batch of samples negative for chronic wasting disease

Update: Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks announced the chronic wasting disease test results from samples taken last week all came back negative. This after positive tests in two successive weeks.


Update: According to a press release from Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, a second test on a tissue sample from a buck harvested in hunting district 510, south of Billings, has come back positive for chronic wasting disease.

A sample from another buck harvested on November 5th about three miles south of Belfry, also in hunting district 510, is currently undergoing testing. The results are expected next week.


Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks says a second mule deer buck from hunting district 510 was found to be suspect for chronic wasting disease.

    A stand off between officers and an adult male fugitive lasted several hours Sunday, after the man barricaded himself inside a residence on the 400 Block of West Mercury Street.  According to  Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester, the man was eventually arrested and taken into custody. No one was injured. More information is expected to be released Monday.
