Whitefish Mountain Resort was forced to close the summit and its high speed quad, chair 1, twice in 48 hours this past week.
How do these closures impact the resort's business?
Riley Polumbus says, "Of course by closing the summit we will lose business. It's not ideal business wise to have to close chair 1 and the summit down."
She goes onto say that while closing the summit and chair 1 isn't ideal, the resort ultimately wants to keep their guests happy and safe.
Polumbus says, "People want to know if we are closing the mountain due to dangerous temperatures. It's part of the business, we're subject to the weather and climate. But then since part of the mountain was closed we offered discounted lift tickets for guests those two days."
