Gardiner Gateway Project Begins

Posted: Updated:
GARDINER -  Gardiner is also celebrating the opening weekend of Yellowstone National Park by kicking off the start of the 'Gardiner Gateway Project'.

The project is a partnership between local, state and federal agencies to restore and enhance the original and only year-round entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

New amenities like walkways, restrooms and a welcome center will be installed where Gardiner's boundary meets the park. Park County leaders are thrilled the project is finally underway and say it will be an enormous economic booster in Gardiner.

“Thanks to the park service moving back their boundary a little bit we are going to have space for people to get out of the car and once they get out of the car they are going to spend money,” said Park County commissioner Marty Malone.

An amphitheater in Arch Park will also be constructed. Construction is expected to be complete by next summer.
