Gov. Bullock Tours St. Patrick Hospital

MISSOULA -

Missoula's St. Patrick hospital got a visit from Governor Steve Bullock as he works to pass a plan that would expand Medicaid.

On Wednesday Bullock toured St. Pat's, speaking to doctors and hospital executives about the need to expand Medicaid. This is one of a several tours the governor has done around the state to gain support for his Healthy Montana Plan, which expands Medicaid to 70,000 Montanans.

The plan is heavily supported by Democrats, but is not popular among Republicans who control both chambers of the legislature.

“Many tours we've been a part of have been in conservative districts where the continuing vitality of their hospital depends on addressing uncompensated care issues, so raising awareness of what this would help,” Bullock said.

That plan goes to a hearing in the House Health and Human Services Committee on Friday.
