Survey Shows People Move to Missoula for Quality of Life

Posted: Updated:

Missoula's economic experts say quality of life is key to improving business in the Garden City.

A handful of speakers addressed a crowd for the Chamber of Commerce's 2015 State of Missoula event. Speakers, including John Lavey with the Sonoran Institute, talked about how we can develop and improve the city's economy.

Lavey discussed the institute's recent survey results, which show people consider quality of life rather than home size and salary when choosing to move to Missoula.

“What is it that attracts people here? We learned once factor is character and sense of place. We learned 89% of the respondents prioritized neighborhood character over home size and that's a significant factor in their decision to remain in the community,” Lavey said.

The Sonoran Institute is a non-profit that works across the west to promote better management of growth and change.
