12:00 Update: Police have left the scene, but the investigation continues. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident, but has not yet spoken to police to call Missoula Police Detective Mitch Lang at (406) 552-6292, or Detective Bob Franke at (406) 552-6643.



Police are releasing more information about an early morning shooting in Missoula. A press release says the victim was a 23-year-old male. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest. When police arrived on the scene they said a 27-year-old man identified himself as the shooter and immediately surrendered himself and his weapon. Police say the man is cooperating and at this time no arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.

Police say a fight broke out between two men in the parking lot and one began assaulting another through the open driver's side window of his vehicle. The fight ended when one fired a shot at the other. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.


One man is dead after a shooting outside of a Missoula Strip club. It happened about 1:15 a.m. Monday at the Fox Club Cabaret at Brooks and Paxson streets.

One victim, an unidentified man, was killed, after an argument led to a shooting in the parking lot.

Police have identified and interviewed the suspected shooter but no one is in custody. They are not releasing his name.

Police are investigating the incident. Witnesses are being interviewed.

Anyone with any information should call 552-6300 to speak with the Missoula Police Department. The police will be releasing a statement about the shooting later this morning.
