We're just days away from Montana State heading to Arkansas State to kickoff the season.
While the cats are busy preparing a game plan, Head Coach Rob Ash took some time to go over X's and O's with some MSU fans.
Coach Ash was back to teaching the game of football Tuesday night.
This time he wasn't talking to his players.
He was teaching the game to some lady Bobcat fans.
"We just want to promote football,” Coach Ash said. “We want the ladies to enjoy the games. We would like them to come to the games. We would like them to understand a little bit about what's going on when they're here."
This is the eighth year Coach Ash has hosted the event.
He's gone over everything from specific positions to even offensive and defensive schemes.
"Just the basics I guess is what we're trying to be about here,” Coach Ash said. “Some things like the officials signals, some of the names of the positions, some basic blocking schemes for offensive plays and pass concepts. Last year I did a defensive idea. Every year changes a little bit because we so many repeat people that have come in past years. So I try to change it up every year."
Nearly 150 ladies showed up to learn more about the game from Coach Ash.
Some have been coming for years, and for others this was their introduction to the game.
"Well, I watch it a lot and there's a lot of things I don't know,” Margaret Huntsman said. “So I'm just going to find out."
"I've been going to football really forever,” said Kay Thayer. “There are things that I didn't know. Coach Ash is so great. He explains everything so well."
Coach Ash says he enjoys discussing football with the fans.
It's a bit of a change from going over the X's and O's with players.
"The players are probably a little ahead right now, but the passion from this group is pretty serious,” Ash said.
