$181 Million Budget Approved

Posted: Updated:
BUTTE -

Butte-Silver Bow leaders approve a large budget at a special city council meeting held Monday night.

Commissioners passed the $181 million dollar budget in a unanimous eight person vote. The new budget creates a small increase in taxes for property and business owners. About $41 million dollars is attributed to taxes, which comes from a reduction in taxable revenues paid to the city-county. However tax payers will be able to see exactly where their money is being spent.

BSB Chief Executive Matt Vincent said, "For the first time we're going to start, every week, posting a full expenditure report of where we spend every dime of the tax payer's money on a weekly basis, and that came in cooperation with our finance and budget committee."

Another goal for the budget is to build up financial reserves for unexpected situations.
