    SPOKANE, Wash. - Two schools in the Spokane area received top rankings based on a new assessment, according to the Washington Policy Center. Using assessments based on a study by the Washington State Board of Education, the Washington Policy Center ranked schools on an "A to F-" scale, with 14 percent of schools in in and around Spokane finishing with A's or B's.

If your children have been moping around the house lately, it is probably because they know the school year is just around the corner. 

In fact, for some it has already started. Start times vary from district to district in the Inland Northwest. Here is a list of some of the first days of class:

If your student is a kindergartner in Spokane Public Schools, class will start Monday, September 8th to allow teachers time to meet with their new students.

Spokane Public School says the Express before-and-after-school child-care program starts September 3rd for grades 1-6, and September 8th for kindergartners. Late-start Thursdays will begin September 11th.

    SPOKANE, Wash. - A man visiting his sick aunt at the hospital finds his bicycle stripped. Thieves preyed on him as he parked it just feet from an entrance at Holy Family. "It stings," Justin Santiago said. Santiago said it's been just a rough stretch for his entire family. "(My aunt) has been really sick," he said. His beloved aunt has chromes disease, pneumonia and recently had a stroke as well. Justin used his bicycle to visit her. "I parked it
