SPOKANE, Wash. -Returning forwards Connor Chartier, Adam Helewka and Dominic Zwerger shined as Team Red came from behind to beat Team White, 5-4 in Sunday afternoon's Red-White Game in front of 3,018 fans at Spokane Arena.
The first period opened as a defensive effort, as neither team found the net until Nicholas Labossiere scored at the 17:00 mark of the 1st Period, beating goaltender Alex Moodie to put Team White up 1-0. Second-year defenseman Matt Sozanski and Chiefs' 2014 WHL Bantam Draft first-round selection Jaret Anderson-Dolan earned the assists.

Goal scorers found their groove in the 2nd Period as each team scored twice. Curtis Miske scored at the 2:59 mark of the period with a creative backhand to beat Moodie high on his glove side. Spokane native Kailer Yamamoto earned the assist as Team White took a 2-0 lead. Defenseman Jake Toporowski, son of former Chief Kerry Toporowski, scored for Team Red at the 8:11 mark, cutting the lead in half.

White extended their lead back to two with goal at the 14:53 mark. Forward Hudson Elynuik put a shot on Matthew Berlin, who had replaced Moodie under a minute before, but Berlin couldn't stop the rebound and Adam Helewka punched it in. Red responded quickly as Connor Chartier deflected a Colton Bobyk slapshot to beat Garret Hughson, with fellow 20-year-old Liam Stewart earning the 2nd assist.

Helewka scored his second goal to open the 3rd Period and push Team White's lead to two, but Dominic Zwerger scored his first and forward Ezra Hall flipped a backhand in to tie the game with just under 9 minutes remaining. Zwerger crashed the net and pushed in a rebound at the 13:18 mark to give Team Red their first and only lead, 5-4 to close the scoring.

Chartier and Helewka were honored after the game as the Don Kiehl Players of the Game, announced this year as the award given annually to the top players from each team of the Red-White Game. Kiehl, a long-time friend of the organization and Head Off-Ice Official, passed away last season.
