WHITEFISH - A 23-year-old Eureka woman is dead and two other people are in serious condition following a crash on Highway 93 north of Whitefish that snarled traffic for over two hours.

Montana Highway Patrol trooper John Underwood says at about noon Wednesday, the driver of a 2010 Mazda car with Alberta license plates was traveling southbound, drove off the road, over-corrected, crossed into the northbound lane, and collided with a Honda Accord, driven by Casey Faye Wood.

The Honda rolled and landed on its top in a ditch.

Underwood says Wood was trapped and pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt.

The 24-year-old man and 23-year-old woman in the Mazda were transported to KRMC.

MHP continues to investigate.
