Missoula County Public Schools Passes This Year's Budget

MISSOULA -

Just days away from the first day of school, the Missoula County Public Schools board of trustees passes the 2014-2015 budget.

The elementary budget comes in at $46.4 million, and the high school budget sits at about $38.2 million. For both, the board voted unanimously in favor.

Superintendent Alex Apostle says they've been working on the budget for about a year and it doesn't call for any layoffs. In fact, it actually gives teachers a 1.5 percent raise this year and a 2 percent raise next year.

"I'm very happy with the fact that we have a balanced budget and we're continuing to move the district forward in a positive direction," said Apostle.

Homeowners with a home valued at $200,000 will now see a drop in the costs associated with the elementary levy, by more than $2.50. For the high school district it increased by almost $1.50.
