Update: Bomb Threat at Missoula Home

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA - Life goes back to normal after specialists set off a bomb in a home near Splash Montana.

Spartan Road has reopened.

Police got a 911 call around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday saying that a home on Spartan Road might have a bomb. Authorities say what they found Tuesday looked like a pipe bomb.

The neighborhood was blocked off for hours while a bomb specialist team from Missoula checked out the situation.

Four homes that surround the house where the device was found had to be evacuated.

Experts sent in a robot first, and eventually set the device off to get rid of any threat. If you were in the neighborhood, you might have been able to hear the explosion.

No other bombs were found and no one got hurt.

Some of the neighbors who spoke with ABC Fox Montana said they were surprised this happened, literally, in their own backyards, but they admitted they didn't know these people well because of some high turnover in the area.

"Yes, it is surprising because this is such a family oriented neighborhood with a lot of children that play in the park and Splash Montana," said Lorry McKay, a neighbor who lives adjacent to the home in question.

Police have been talking to the two people who live in the home where the device was found. No charges have been filed and police haven't given out the names of the people who live there or why they might have made an explosive device.
