GREAT FALLS -

The funeral arrangements are announced for Cascade County Sheriff's Deputy, Joseph Dunn.

On Thursday, at 1:00 p.m., a memorial service will take place in Great Falls at Four Seasons Arena to honor the life and service of Sheriff Deputy and Missoula native, Joseph Dunn. The news of the tragic death doesn't come easy for people such as former policeman, Corey Smith.

"I was a police officer at one point so it kind of hits home for me and I have had friends die in the line of duty."

The former Marine is survived by his wife who he married in Big Sky, 2 young children, his parents and 2 siblings. Smith immediately acted when he heard about Dunn's passing by setting up a fund online to help the family out.

"You got to understand this is their day job people go to Wal-Mart and work people do the news people work 9 to 5 jobs and get to come home and do their normal life," said Smith.

Smith says often times, people take for granted, the service police officers such as Dunn provide to their communities.

Smith said, "These guys this is their job they put on a gun in the morning they put on a badge and they deal with people they show up to their door and those people want to end their lives and I think people overlook that sometimes."

Deputy Dunn will be buried with full military honors at Highland Cemetery in Great Falls following a procession from the funeral service at the Four Seasons Arena.
