Headframe Spirits Plans Third, Large Distillery in Butte

Posted: Updated:
BUTTE -

The owners of Headframe Spirits announced plans to open a third distillery in Butte, one to rival that of large facilities in Kentucky and Indiana.

Montana's 2013 Entrepreneurs of the Year, John and Courtney McKee made the announcement at the Council of Commissioners meeting in Butte on Wednesday evening.

The McKee's currently operate two distilleries in the Mining City.

They intend to enter into negotiations with Butte Silver Bow County and the Atlantic Richfield Company to take over 20 acres of the former Kelley Mine Yard to redevelop it into the largest distillery west of the Mississippi.

The project is expected to create 50 new long-term jobs in Butte.
