PROSSER, WA - Most cities in our region have bans or moratoriums on pot sales and one of the few cities that allows it is now reconsidering.

"We support the industry overall so if someone were to come to the area we highly encourage it. Obviously we're for the cause of it, but as of right now as we stand being the only store does benefit us obviously and business is good as we speak right now," explained Manel Valenzuela from Altitude, the only pot store in Prosser. If a moratorium passes there it could stay that way.

It's been a great first month for altitude and stores that have already opened across the state. In total just under 3.8 million dollars has been spent at these new stores.

"We have a lot of loyal customers that are coming and helping us build our business through repeat and referrals as well too."

Altitude has already gone through its first month of business, which means they've sent in their excise tax check to the state. Washington has already collected more than one million dollars in taxes from retail marijuana stores.

"We price enough where we want to make sure we still stay in business but at the same time it's still foreseeable for a lot of different people to be able to have access to marijuana."

The city council has already asked for their attorney to draw up the ordinance that would temporarily ban other stores from opening, which could be approved next week. As the city leans closer to being more restrictive, Altitude will aim to work with them and the state to keep their business moving forward.

"Whatever needs to be done in compliance we're definitely willing to do so. As far as overall business so far it's definitely been increasing. So it's a good thing for us and I foresee it with the weather kind of dying down a bit that it will pick up even more, at least we hope so."

To keep their customers excited about their new products Altitude will be bringing in something new to the area with edible products. They're already being sold on the west side in some stores, but in Prosser they'll have some different choices like pot soda drinks. Those will be sold at the store in the coming weeks.
