Demolition Delay

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. -

The old Billings Public Library still stands after original plans to demolish the building hit a road block.

Assistant Director of the Billings Public Library, Dee Ann Redman, said most of the issues regarding the old buildings demolition are asbestos related.

For library patrons like Rebecca Hunter, this situation is frustrating.

When she decides to come to the library, she has to look for parking because the lot designated for library parking only houses 22 cars, with two of the 22 for handicap individuals.

Assistant Director Redman knows about the complaints and said they are taking care of the situation in the safest manner for people and the environment.

Redman said the demolition of the building should took place in November and afterward, a parking lot fit to house 100 cars will be made available.
