UPDATE: Mills Canyon & Chiwaukum wildfires

KHQ.COM - Here are the latest updates as of 2:27pm on Wednesday for the Chiwaukum Complex Fire and the Mills Canyon Fire according to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center Tuesday Morning Brief:

Chiwaukum Complex: Chiwaukum Complex includes Chiwaukum Creek fire, Kelly Mountain Fire and Duncan Fire. This fire is burning 9 miles NW of Leavenworth, WA. It was started by lightning on July 15th, has now burned 12,255 acres and is 20% contained. Values at risk include cabins, homes, power lines, logging equipment, T&E species and natural resources. There are level 1, 2, and 3 evacuations. Hwy 2 is closed. Washington state fire mob authorized. 1,011 personnel are fighting this fire. Chiwaukum is near the community of Leavenworth. Duncan and Kelly Mountain Fires are north of Klone Peak.

Mills Canyon - This fire remains at 22,571 acres (number has not changed for 5 days now). It is 90%contained. It started on July 8th and the cause is not known at this time. 57 personnel are fighting this fire. Fire activity continues to be minimal, with creeping and smoldering. Values at risk include residences.

    SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Regional Transportation Metro Center says I-90 will remain closed at the state line until 6 tonight.Authorities told Victor Correa less than a gallon of trimethylamine gas leaked into the environment at the state line. Crews closed the road at about 1:30.

    QUINCY, Wash. - Firefights fully contained a brush fire burning west of Quincy Sunday, according to the Washington State Patrol. The brush fire started near State Route 28 Saturday afternoon. It was initially estimated to be 300 acres in size, but more accurate mapping showed it was only 211 acres in size.

    SEATAC, Wash. (AP) - Public health officials are warning that people may have been exposed to measles at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. They say a passenger who contracted a confirmed case of the disease - likely outside the United States - was contagious when he or she was at the airport.
