Challenge Hanford Holds Meeting on Chemical Vapors

Posted: Updated:
RICHLAND, WA -  Hanford Challenge hosts another meeting in Richland, this time to discuss tank vapors and exposure on the Hanford site.

In the last few months, dozens of workers have been exposed and sent home. Just last week, Hanford officials claimed there were no dangerous vapors released. But according to the workers at the meeting Wednesday, that is not true.

"DOE and the contractors can say, you know, that they are not finding anything. But the fact is, people are getting sick and there are symptoms and there are people who have gotten brain damage. Lots of them," said executive director Tom Carpenter.

Hanford Challenge leaders are working hard to grab the attorney general's attention and urge others in the community concerned about this to also reach out to the AG.
