Former Washington Husky big man Spencer Hawes has signed a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, as league sources have told Yahoo Sports.

Hawes spent last season between the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 13.2 points and 8 rebounds per game.

Hawes' main goal in searching for a new team was to sign with a contender after only making the playoffs twice in his seven seasons. With the All-Stars Blake Griffin and Chris Paul and head coach Doc Rivers on the sideline, the Clippers offered the best option to sate that need.

The deal is reportedly four years and $23-million for the 7-foot center from Seattle, Wash. and Los Angeles could still seek a sign-and-trade with the Cavs to try and maintain their mid-level exception signing.
