What Does Independence Day Mean to You?

BILLINGS -

There aren't many holidays that bring on a celebration like the 4th of July.

Family gatherings, parades and other celebrations happen around the state, and then there are the fireworks shows.

One of our local celebrations takes place at Castle Rock Park in the Heights.

KULR 8 photojournalist, Tyson Adams, stopped by the park today to talk to the volunteers about their definition of Independence Day.

"It means the birth of our country, our nation.”

"It's a big celebration for our country. It's why we are America. It's fun, it's time for family, it's time to just celebrate the United States."

"I would say it's about getting together for me, that's what I would say cause we always get together on the 4th of July."

"Family get togethers and being able to thank the veterans. That's my two favorite things about the 4th of July."

"The bestest thing is if you get more bored, to ride bikes and stuff, you can just go home and ride your bike!"

"I've always loved the parade in Laurel. It's a family parade and the whole community goes out and it's just a lot of fun."

"Fireworks and colors. I love all the colors."

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, One Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
