KHQ.COM - KHQ photographer, Reed Schmitt enjoys taking photographs as a hobby. We are very lucky to have him on our team and wanted to share some of his recent work from a trip he took to the San Juan Islands. He photographed orcas, foxes, eagles and deer.

The Orcas were photographed 6/16/14 from a Washington State Ferry in the San Juan Islands and on 6/17/14 on San Juan Island from West Side Rd south of Lime Kiln Point State Park and from South Beach.

The Foxes and Eagles were photographed 6/17/14 and 6/19/14 on San Juan Island near Roche Harbor Rd at the north end of the island.

The deer photograph was taken 6/17/14 at American Camp which is where US soldiers were stationed during the Pig War from 1859 until 1872.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Just for a second, forget everything you think you know about Pit Bulls. Forget that you think they are vicious or that you've heard they attack children. Approaching this story with an open mind might just change your opinion of what can actually be a very sweet, people-loving breed. A very special pit bull is lucky to be alive after enduring two gun shot wounds and abuse that left her blind in one eye.
