Darby Man Found Not Guilty Of Threatening To Kill President

Posted: Updated:

A Darby man is found not guilty of threatening to kill President Barack Obama and his family.

On Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Missoula, jurors decided 43-year-old Dan Rachell was not guilty threatening to kill the President and threatening to kill one or more of his family members.

Rachell was arrested in April by the U.S. Secret Service after a fellow veteran reported threats he made over the last six months.

The veteran said Rachell even claimed to have spots set up around Hamilton to ambush the President should he visit. The defense argued prosecutors failed to provide evidence that Rachell was serious about his threats, and that he had the means to carry them out.

Rachell was also investigated for similar threats back in 2011.
