Aaron Brooks Visits Bobcat Development Camp

Posted: Updated:

Just two days after bringing in national college basketball analyst Doug Gottlieb, Montana State Head Basketball Coach Brian Fish is bringing in a current basketball star who plays at the highest level. Throughout

his coaching career in college basketball, Coach Fish has made quite a few close friends.

The list includes former Oregon Duck and current NBA point guard Aaron Brooks, who is in Bozeman for coach's Bobcat development camp.

"He said he had a good thing going here,” said Coach Fish. “He said the people here are friendly. He's always been a good guy Anything you ask him to do, anything you need help with, he's always been there. So Anytime I can help, or just him having me here is a great thing."

"I've been fortunate to be around a lot of people, and meet a lot of good people in the game,” Brooks said. “I've had some friends step up and be willing to come in and be a part of the first year. It's been unbelievable. Aaron's been a good friend to myself and one of my assistant coaches, Brandon Lincoln. We just use that and he was more than willing to come in and be a part of it."

Brooks spent the day working with young kids at the Bobcats development camp.

He also sat down to talk with the kids, telling them his story and making it in the NBA.

"Being under six foot and making it the NBA, a lot of people said I couldn't do it. Montana is not the typical basketball town, but it's still possible,” said Brooks. “I just want to show them that anything is possible. I'm having a good time."

Brooks provided a thrill for the kids, answering multiple questions.

While he was a highlight of camp, brooks was there to lend a helping hand to a good friend.

"I'm just proud of him, happy for him.” Said Brooks. “I know he's going to turn things around here. He's on the right track. He's recruiting good guys and he has a great coaching staff. I know he's going to do very positive things. I'm happy to be here, help him out, and check out things."
