Tri-Cities Fever Earn Two IFL Team Awards

Posted: Updated:
As the Indoor Football League (IFL) gears up for this weekend’s United Bowl Championship Game, the League is proud to announce the 2014 Team Awards for outstanding achievements during the IFL regular season.

Franchise of the Year: Cedar Rapids Titans

The Cedar Rapids Titans were named the 2014 Franchise of the Year.  Selected by their peers, factors considered for achieving this award consisted of attendance, sales, public relations, marketing, performance on the field, community involvement, and overall representation of the IFL.

On the field, the Titans set a team record with 11 wins during the regular season.  Head Coach Mark Stoute led the teams to its second straight postseason appearance.  The team came just short in its quest for a berth in the United Bowl, falling to the Sioux Falls Storm in Saturday night’s United Conference Championship Game.  In addition to on the field success, the Titans averaged a franchise best, 4,284 fans per game during its 7 regular season home games in 2014.  The home opener for the Titans drew over 5,500 fans!

“We are honored to receive this award.  In the three year history of the Titans we have continually improved in all phases as an organization, from the coaches and players all the way to the front office staff,” Cedar Rapids Titans Owner/GM Chris Kokalis said.  “Thank you to everyone in the Titans organization, the community of Cedar Rapids, and of course, to our great fans.  We are looking forward to taking another step forward in the 2015 IFL season.”

Best Fan Base: Sioux Falls Storm

The Best Fan Base award is given to the team with the fans that show the most enthusiasm, character, energy, and overall appreciation for their team.  The Sioux Falls Storm are the recipients of this year’s award.  Few teams in all of indoor football rival the longstanding traditions of Storm football.  The fans of the Storm, led by “Section O”, make Sioux Falls one of the toughest venues for visiting teams to play in, which is backed by the Storm’s current 41 game home win streak.  During the 2014 season, the Storm led the IFL in attendance, averaging over 4,700 fans per game.

Best Game Operations: Tri-Cities Fever

The Tri-Cities Fever were awarded as the team with the Best Game Day Operations.  A mainstay in the Tri-Cities community for 10 plus seasons, the Fever always put on a great show for the home fans. The team consistently created innovative game day presentations and entertained fans with unique half-time shows, giveaways, music, and on-field promotions.

Best Cheerleader/Dance Team: Texas Revolution

For the second consecutive year, the Texas Revolution earned the Best Dance Team award.  Last year’s group was great, but this year the Revs Dance Team took it to another level.  The award is based on providing the most talented and attractive dance team in the IFL.  Uniforms, class, routines, and crowd interaction were also factors in deciding the award.

Community Relations Award: Tri-Cities Fever

The Community Relations award is presented to the team that best exemplifies outstanding service and dedication to their community.  The Tri-Cities Fever received the award based on their contributions to the city and surrounding area of Kennewick, WA.   Some of the programs that the Fever are involved with include Jefferson Elementary After School Matters, Junior Achievements, the United Way, the Boy Scouts, and contributions to Breast Cancer Awareness.
