SALUTING THE BRAVE: Hundreds Attend Memorial Service For Corporal Justin Clouse

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. - Hundreds attended the memorial service Saturday at Life Center Church to remember the  life and honor the sacrifice of 22-year-old Justin Clouse.

The Patriot Guard, members of the military, friends, and family gathered to pay tribute to the army corporal.

"Thank you for honoring the service and sacrifice, and life of Justin," said the pastor at the memorial.

Justin is remembered as a gentle giant for his tall stature, but quiet personality.

"There's not many people bigger than Corporal Clouse and at first you'd look at him, and say wow, this guy is giant, but he was very gentle and quiet," said Justin's Uncle Roger. "He cared about everybody, especially as a leader."

Justin showed leadership skills in both the army and his everyday life. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service.

"Justin was not like the many," said Brigadier General John Kem. "He resolved to risk all, to maintain our way of life"

Family and friends were a very important part of his life and priorities. Justin met the love of his life after his first tour in Afghanistan and was engaged to be married next May. He was a loving man who cared about his troops and paid the ultimate sacrifice for this country and his family.

At Saturday's service it was said that, "Justin still had family to love and animals to hunt, so our grief is not just of remembrance, but it is a deep shocking sadness of what was not to be."

SPOKANE, Wash. - One of the great parts about living in Spokane, is if you head out of town in any direction, you're going to run into some beautiful farm land. I grew up south of Spokane, near Plaza, and one of my favorite things to do was to sit on the porch at night and stare south towards Rosalia at all of the rolling hills of wheat, lentils, barley and peas.
