Tribe Member Files Lawsuit After Arrest

Posted: Updated:
RONAN - A member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes takes legal action after allegedly being wrongly arrested by Ronan police.

Anthony Chaney filed the lawsuit earlier this month, alleging the city violated his constitutional rights by hiring at least one unqualified officer.

The suit names the city, its police department and mayor, former police chief Daniel Wadsworth, and his son, Trevor Wadsworth.

Chaney alleges he was arrested in July 2013 by Trevor Wadsworth who didn't have the right officer training.

No charges were filed against Chaney.

He wants the lawsuit made into a class action suit on behalf of anyone else who might have been arrested by Trevor Wadsworth.
