SPOKANE, Wash. - One man was taken into custody Thursday night after a brief standoff with Spokane Police and the SWAT team.

It happened at Perry and Illinois, near the Avista Headquarters on Mission.
Witnesses say a husband and his wife got into a fight and when another man stepped in, the husband pulled a gun on him. Eventually the husband retreated back into his house refusing to come out.

Police brought in a SWAT team and a negotiator who was eventually able to get the man to give himself up without incident. He was walked to and placed in the back of a police car.

Neighbors say this isn't the first time something like this has happened, and they are glad police finally did something about it.

After the arrest officers executed a search warrant on the home looking for firearms. The man arrested by police has not been identified, but is being charged with assault and unlawful possession of a firearm
